Our British Berkefeld emergency water filtration system.

In many of my previous videos I have put forward the point that the most important thing to have in testing times is a means of producing fresh drinking water. I have just purchased a British Berkefeld gravity water filtration system, which incorporates two Super Sterasyl ceramic filters. I bought this unit in the UK from www.kernowrat.co.uk Should you wish to buy one in the US then go to www.aaoobfoods.com One can last for a month without food, but only a few days without water.

I have one of those! I’ve got it all washed and ready to go but I keep meaning to build a stand for it since I didn’t want it to dangle over the edge of my countertop. -There different filters you can get for them too.

-Hold on…just viewed the end of the vid and you said it was made in the states? Both the stainless steel body and the filters of mine are made in the UK -and I bought them last spring too. Odd.

I have it placed on the windowsill normally, although I took it down from the sill to be able to view the inside of it.

Yes there are a few different filters available, although for me one has no option but to buy the best ones available, which are the ‘Super Sterasyl’ version.

It does look big, but as you know the top section fits inside the bottom section, so halving its size when not in use.

      Cheer’s.

The chap I bought it from told me he imports them from the states, and that in the states the unit sells under a different name (he did say what it was but I cannot remember what he said).

It may be that the British version is called the British Berkefeld.

The filters are made in the UK (in Kings Lynn, Norfolk).

      Cheer’s.

Also as silver is the sanitizing agent, I am sure that placing a couple of Eagles or Maples into the bottom section would assist in keeping the filtered water in tip top condition.

      Do you agree?

      @NowisEvollovetion yep thats what i do :)
in my 30 ltr water containers :) silver coin
if the water is very bad u can make a simple gravel filter to get the big stuff out to make the ceramic filter last longer

No worries, there is a link to a couple of suppliers in the more info section.

      Cheer’s.

Nice gear review. I’d heard of these, but didn’t know much about ‘em. Sounds like an excellent investment (even has some silver in it)! =^[.]^=

Yeah Ray it is certainly a nice unit.

      Cheer’s Matey
